Apron Roundup

Kids’ aprons are a must-have during the Holiday season, so we have gathered a variety of styles that will keep their clothes tidy while they help out in the kitchen. Anthropologie is widely known for its fabulous women’s fashions but they are also incredibly fabulous in the few children’s products they carry. I adore their aprons for myself and my daughter is beyond thrilled when she can have a matching apron to mom!
We have searched high and low to find you the best aprons out there, not just from Anthropologie. Pottery Barn Kids is a great place to find darling, frilly aprons, usually in seasonal styles. Ikea and Crate and Barrel’s children’s site, The Land of Nod,  have some great options. Lastly, if you are feeling crafty, we included a DIY option from Martha Stewart, that older girls could do as a project with a little help from a parent.

Holidays with Ralph Lauren

The classic style of Ralph Lauren is one of my favorites for the holidays. Polo shirts are always a great casual look and in recent years, Ralph Lauren has stepped up their children’s clothing lines to include gorgeous fashions ranging from costly to quite affordable. Right now, many of their special occasion and holiday styles are even marked down.

Tea for 3

Today we are featuring a tea party themed birthday party, styled by one of my favorite bloggers and party planners, Kelly Lyden of The Party Dress. The ‘Tea for Three’ birthday party was hosted by three lucky sisters, complete with pretty manicures and make up stations.

The tea party included a custom collection of party goods and fabric for the celebration, with a turquoise and pink color palette. The custom fabric truly set the theme for the tea party, from custom fabric banners to pink fabric sashes tied into a bow on the backs of the chairs.

The set of custom paper items were a hit.

Each girl got her own cake to blow out her birthday candles. There was a great collection of darling sweets – cookies from Allyson Jane, fondant petifore toppers by Two Sugar Babies, beautiful cakes by Knolle Cakes, cake pops by Cuter than Cake, and chocolate-covered Oreos by Sweeties By Kim.

Feature: Tutu Du Monde and Toddler Flower Girl Hair

Today’s inspiration for your little flower girl comes from the sweet style of Tutu Du Monde ‘In the Wings’ collection. The self-described whimsy and delicate styles of princesses and fairies lets your little girl dress up like the star of a fairy tale. The vintage-esque dresses are accompanied by the line’s gorgeous hair pieces, headdresses, hairclips, fairy wings, and jewelry.  Tutu de Monde also has a great selection of elegant shrugs and capes, which personally I have a hard time finding. These make a great option to convert a spaghetti strap dress into something more suited for fall and winter events.

The hairstyles featured in Tutu Du Monde’s ‘In the Wings’ lookbook include elegantly loose buns. Note: Be sure to part your toddler’s hair to one side, using extra gel if her hair isn’t used to that, then secure each pigtail with an elastic into a ponytail before twisting it into a bun. Use a second elastic to hold the bun in place. Don’t worry about the little wisps of hair that come down on the side, that’s part of what makes this hairstyle so sweet!

Mint shoes picture above can be found at Joy Folie.

Ivory parasol (the same one I used in my wedding and it is truly gorgeous!) from Amazon.
Pink Peony bouquet from Wedding Chicks.
Flower Girl Basket can be found here.

Toddler Braids and Twists

Finding a cute, stylish hairdo for your toddler girl can be challenging, and is by far the most popular on my blog. So I thought I would post some new styles, featuring toddler’s fine, wispy hair pulled back into adorable twists and braids. The trick is to start with wet hair, and have lots of hair gel (not spray gel) on hand.

If your little girl has a hard time sitting still, like mine, I would gather snacks and put on a movie or favorite tv show to distract her and help her hold still. These styles are nice because they don’t involve any heat, like curling irons or flat irons.

Styles tend to look cleaner if you take the time to get parts very straight, which is also much easier with wet hair and gel or pomade. Note: If using pomade, a tiny bit goes a very long way!
